We received a message from the director of Roten av ondska / Root of Darkness (which we screened in our BUTKINO last Weekend of Hell) about this kickstarter from Chaosmonger Studio which hinges around Nicola Piovesan. We have seen a lot of these projects, but this one caught our attention because it doesn't aim to be deliberately laughable for a change. They would like to make a genuine retro-futuristic cyberpunk short film and to re-create the look and feel of an eighties sci-fi classic, without using CGI.

To get in the mood for the Fantastic Indonesia tour, we are going to share some trailers and teasers in advance. One of the films we just have to show, because it's such a classic, is Jaka Sembung/The Warrior (1981) with Barry Prima. On 35mm, English spoken, Dutch subs, Sunday 25th of March in Chassé Cinema in Breda.

Friendly fire! BUT Film Festival has found a kindred spirit in Paris, France: The Sadique-Master Festival at Cinémas 5 Caumartin, 101 Rue Saint-Lazare. Focussing like our festival on extreme cinema, underground horror, splatter and gore and other obscure forbidden fruits. It is an one-of-a-kind and worth a visit to France. Their third edition is coming up: Friday, 3rd - Sunday, 5th of March. Sadique master festival (2017) 3éme édition.

We can't hide it any longer. We are just too excited with this year's theme Wrong Fu and artwork by Martin Motor Hager. So here it is!
